Ammonium Iron (II) sulfate hexahydrate

General description: Ammonium iron(II) sulfate, or Mohr’s salt, is the inorganic compound with the formula (NH₄)₂Fe(SO₄)₂•6H₂O. Containing two different cations, Fe²⁺ and NH⁴⁺, it is classified as a double salt of ferrous sulfate and ammonium sulfate. It is a common laboratory reagent.

Application: Ammonium iron (II) sulfate hexahydrate is widely utilized in analytical chemistry for titration purposes since it is affected lesser by oxygen in the air than iron(II) sulpahte. I t is involved in a variety of other applications from nanomaterials to general redox reactions. It is used in the medical field as an antianemic agent for treatment of iron deficiency.
