Cefotaxime sodium is a cephalosporin antibiotic that exhibits a broad spectrum of activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Sodium cefotaxime is effective against antibiotic-resistant strains such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and tetracycline-resistant bacteria.
This antibiotic binds to DNA-dependent RNA Polymerase and prevents transcription and replication. Cefotaxime inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
