Description
Meat peptone is prepared from sections of animal tissue that are free of fat, tendons, and ligaments. This peptone is a source of nitrogen, carbon, vitamins, and amino acids in the culture medium. This type of peptone is very suitable for identifying hydrogen sulfide-producing bacteria such as Clostridium and Salmonella due to its high sulfur content. In the usual culture medium formulation, about 0.1-3% of this peptone is used.
